Quick - What Percentage of America Is...

…Homosexual!

Yeah, what is your best guess of America’s Homosexuality percentage?

Chances are, you will be shocked by the answer. Click headline for full article.

Only 4 percent of all those surveyed in 2011 and about 8 percent of those surveyed in 2002 correctly guessed that fewer than 5 percent of Americans identify as gay or lesbian.
Same issue, different link: Gallup

…its amazing how much media attention can infiltrate our understanding of an issue.<5% of America is gay but I would throw out an arbitrary number and say LGBT issues get 25% of the political/media’s attention. …Not that minorities should be marginalized or anything, but seriously.

[For comparison sake, the US Black population is ~13%]

[Edit: Thanks Jared - I always do that when I don’t have a variable present.]

Because we needed more proof the NAACP doesn't actually support the views of Blacks...

Pew Research Center polls have found that African Americans have become more supportive of same-sex marriage in recent years, but remain less supportive than other groups. A poll conducted in April showed 39 percent of African-Americans favor gay marriage, compared with 47 percent of whites. The poll showed 49 percent of blacks and 43 percent of whites are opposed.

The Human Rights Campaign, a leading gay rights advocacy group, applauded the step by the Baltimore-based civil rights organization.

“We could not be more pleased with the NAACP’s history-making vote today — which is yet another example of the traction marriage equality continues to gain in every community,” HRC President Joe Solmonese said in a statement.

Of course they couldn’t go against the Big Man Obama… Their big man.
NAACP is nothing but a Liberal political front that claims to support blacks but instead perpetuates an attitude of victimhood rather than progress..

Ron Brown: Nebraska Coach takes a firm stance on Faith

“I have simply said that based on the Bible, homosexuality, the lifestyle of homosexuality, is a sin,” he said. “That has created a flame within itself. But I’ve decided I’m not going to be afraid of people calling me a bigot or a homophobic or narrow-minded out of a simple, gentle, compassionate expression of the truth of God’s word. I’m not going to be bought off by that.”

To be fired for my faith would be a greater honor than to be fired because we didn’t win enough games. - Ron Brown

Recently I heard about a LGBT Oriented Christian group here at USC. Upon initial thought, I thought “oh thats cool, reaching out to the lost.”

Then I realized, this group was one of the growing Pro-homosexual “Christian” groups that have been growing across the United States.

Upon beginning school at USC, I realized that I would be very busy and unable to blog much, but honestly there are some things that press me to get off my chest.

This is one of them.

Being Christian and Gay does not exist. [Pause].

Let me explain why.

As Christians, we all sin, and will trip up now and then in our walk (meaning we continue to sin). There is an important difference between tripping up and sinning, and purposely seeking out sin.

Accidental slips (from anger etc) or temptation can cause us to sin. This is why we need to flee from both stated causes (be slow to anger, and flee from temptation). When we PURPOSELY sin, this creates a huge problem for the Christian. In fact, I would state that you are not Christian.

So what does it mean to be a Christian. Being Christian is to follow Christ. You accept Christ as your “personal Lord and Savior,” knowing He died on the cross for your sin, and in order to receive salvation you must ask Him to take control of your life. In doing so, you repent from sin, and chase after God and His will.

 You are in. Thats it.

The key here is not simply belief, but knowing; accepting and repenting. Upon repentance (which constitutes a realization of sin - aka confession and recognition) you seek to never again return to sin. This does not mean that returning to sin is impossible, you simply made a decision to put it away, behind you. A new life, a new creation. The Holy Spirit, which lives in you and assists us, allows us to have the power to change and follow Christ.

If you do not repent, you do 2 things. 1. You seer your conscience, meaning it becomes no big deal for you to sin. You do not recognize it as a problem, just something you do.

The issue here is that you stated to have recognized Christ’s Crucifixion for your sins, yet you are now using the Cross as a “get out of sin free card” rather than a one time deal. Will you continue to put Christ on the cross for fleeting pleasure?

Lecrae, a Christian rapper, described purposeful sin  as ”  spitting on [Christ] bloody face as if I never cared.”

Wow.

The second issue can be pointed out by the book of Hebrews:

4 It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, 5 who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age 6 and who have fallen[a] away, to be brought back to repentance. To their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace.

You as a Christian, are kept in the hands of God. No one can pull you away. This is described as “Once Saved Always Saved.”

So is there a contradiction above as Hebrew’s describe “falling away?” No. In fact, because you cannot fall away, one who has claimed Christ as His God and doesn’t act it out, is most likely to have never “tasted heavenly gift.” Otherwise, God will not let you fall. Even more alarming, if you could fall away having tasted these gifts (which would require you to purposely seek out sin and evil things)you cannot again be brought back to “repentance” or “salvation.” (I can go more into this later).

So what am I getting at?

1. Homosexuality is a Sin.

As Christian, we admit we are “born into sin.” The Homosexual’s excuse (though not scientifically proven) is that they were “Born this way” so therefore it is stupid to call such “sexuality” an “abomination” or “sin” and that Christians that do such things are “bigots” or “hate-mongers.”

Now I admit, there are some so-called Christians that approach the issue with a saddening and sickening manner. But do not get me wrong, Homosexuality is a Sin.

Sin needs repentance.

Living as a Homosexual, is not compatible with being a Christian. In a sense, a Homosexual that claims to be Christian is a Christian that has not repented, and is using the Cross of Christ as a scapegoat to continue in sin.

This is heresy. This is a problem. This is absolutely false, and un-Christian.

As I explained above, Christianity requires repentance to God. Repentance is a requirement for salvation. You do not need to clean yourself up before coming to Christ, He will do that for you, but there needs to be a relinquishing of the old self, for the new self.

Yes, you can accept Christ as a Christian, while engaged in Homosexuality. Just like a thief can be saved while still a thief (or lier, or adulterer etc). But this same person CANNOT be safe in their salvation by finding it sufficient to continue in their sin… this person should QUESTION the Gospel they were given, for the Gospel requires…Belief in Christ which begets Confession & Repentance.

Christianity means “like-Christ.” Christ was perfect, something we will never be. But we are to emulate Him in all things. Christ was sinless, so we are to live a life away from sin, our old self.

The Bible shows us what it is to be a Christian. Combining your sin and compromising it into your faith, is not Christianity… no matter what there world says, like this quote from the article below:

To be gay and Christian at the same time can feel like conflicting identities, but a weeklong summer camp in Minnesota gives teens license to be both.

Such a thing cannot, should not, nor will exist in the Truth that Christianity offers.

No matter how much Herndon Davis writes, it is not possible to be “Black, Gay and Christian.” Davis call’s his book

a Biblically-based, empowerment tool providing spiritual direction, motivational support and Christ-centered guidance on how to live proud, fully committed, prosperous lives as gay/lesbian Christians without having to change orientation or behavior.

If you do not find fault in that statement above, let me help you out.

Problem No. 1: “Biblically-based” is false. The Bible rejects Homosexuality. Its Sin.

No. 2: If you need an “empowerment tool, motivational support” for Being Gay and Christian outside of the Bible (rather than within), there is something wrong.

No. 3: Living “proudly” is un-biblical

No. 4: Living “prosperously” is Biblical, only when it concerns your Spiritual Welfare (nothing wrong with Being rich, but if you have to sin or ignore Christ to do it then there is another issue.)

No. 5: “without having to change orientation or behavior” - The Bible’s message & Christianity is about CHANGE! If you do not have to change, why become Christian?

- God Bless

(P.s.For those who have stated Homosexuality is not a sin: here is your Proof - READ AWAY)

I would like to thank babydali - in the notes below- for bringing my lack of “proof” that Homosexuality IS a SIN to my attention - i find it amazing that as an atheist, you wish to tell me what my own Bible/faith has stated.

Also thanks for reblogging! Unfortunately you had to cut out the explanation (everything after “Let me explain why”) which suites the world view which is ever so willing to ignore the truth. God Bless!

What? Why!?

Chances are if you identify yourself as an African-American Black, you will largely be aligned with the Democratic Party. Same goes for the vast majority of Mexicans (Latino/Chicano/Hispanic or whatever floats your boat). On top of this, if you come from the “Projects,” or the Inner-City or you simply find yourself on the lower half of the socio-economic ladder; it is almost fail proof that your alliance will fall into the Liberal wing of the political spectrum.

So what the heck happened to you?
(Note* The RED Words Are Links, Click to Compliment the Reading)

Who me? Well simply put, i did not allow statistics to make up my mind. If that were the case, chances are I would be in prison (or formerly incarcerated) by now. I am “Conservative” mainly because my beliefs dictate my way of life; what I do, what I seek, and what I claim.

Socially, I am Pro-Life, Pro-defense of marriage (as it originally stood), Pro-Intelligent design alternative, and Pro-Family values and morals. “Conservatives” do not wish to stay in the past (although that may not be a bad idea), we simply understand the dangers of radical change, therefore seek to curve the appetite of America by acting as a “checkpoint” ensuring these changes happen slowly overtime and not all at once. As a “Conservative” we understand that this nation, once far more religious, was built off Judeo-Christian values that not only give us our moral perspective, but our realist perspective when confronting economics, and the international arena.

Economically, I am a bit more torn. Having come from the lower end of the financial scale, its easy to turn to the rich as demand them to bare the brunt of the taxes, after-all they are the rich, they can afford to! Right? But as I got older, I realized the more complicated nature of this idea. The same wealthy people who many seek to bare the tax burden are those who invest and create business that in turn create jobs for many economic levels; an over-burden on them effectively hurts “us” below. The Judeo-Christian values in Conservative economics are the ideas of “reaping what you sow” and the so called “Protestant Work Ethic.” You get what you deserve and success is found in hard work. “Pull yourself up by your own bootstraps. Make yourself useful (Eph 4:38). In Capitalism, much of the values of Christianity are easily lost. It can be very dog eat dog. Socialism on the other hand offers many “Christian” ideals such as redistributing wealth to the poor and Social Welfare and Health Care. As a beneficiary of Welfare, I have seen what good such programs can do; on the other hand I have seen what bad it also facilitates such as a lack of motivation to work and a willingness to milk the system than better oneself. To put it plainly, I am sympathetic to both sides of the economic divide between Conservatives and Liberals.

So scoring socially: Conservative (hardline at that). Scoring economically: Half/Half with a Lean to the Right.

But truthfully speaking, even if I were economically Liberal, I would more than likely still consider myself on the Right. You see, for me, the Social aspect is heavily important, especially as the Left begins to ramp up its relentless attacks against what I believe, as a Conservative and a Christian.

Before I jump into what these “attacks” are or what they look like, lets first get something straight. I am Christian therefore I am ideologically Conservative. I feel like if you are Christian, the Liberal Social agenda is simply incompatible. This is not to say that all Conservatives are ideologically Christian. Far from it. (Note* the Log Cabin Republicans group). And yes there are plenty of Christian Democrats. That is fine, most are this way for economic reasons. I just simply cannot continue to ignore enormous damage the Democratic/Liberal/Left are doing on the “social” end of politics. So for me, I will plant myself on the Right/Conservative end. (Note: While the Republican party waves the Conservative flag, I refuse to. I will not plunge my trust into one party.)

So what of this so-called “attack” on your beliefs?

The Liberal Left ideology has labeled itself as the “all inclusive, all welcoming, all loving” side of the political spectrum; but as a Christian and Conservative, I see this as completely hypocritical.

If you look at the Political Spectrum figure above, the “100” Score suggest absolute freedom (be it Personal Issues or Economic Issues). As you can see, the extreme right would allow absolute Capitalism Freedom (a troublesome dog-eat-dog system that can work, if one were fine with tossing out morals, safety measures, and controls). The extreme Left seeks absolute Personal Freedom (gay marriage is fine and so too would polygamy or bestiality).

Concerning matters such as “Gay-Marriage,” I cannot tell you how many times Liberals have said “what does it matter to you, its their own life, it is not hurting you so leave them alone.” In fact, Liberals will use this mantra with many things until you engage in something THEY disagree with.

Yes, you are “free to do as you will” unless they do not like it. And if they do not like it, they will seek some way to force you to fall in line with their ideas.

Case Example No. 1: A Vermont resort refuses to conduct a gay-marriage. In this case, instead respecting the opinion of the establishment, a lawsuit has been filed to force the business to comply, despite having found a new location.

Or how about Target, who was threatened with Boycotts because it funded political conservatives who opposed Gay-Marriage. Lady-Gaga would go on to remove her products from the company, and Target  would later apologize to the LGBT community.

But why does a company need to apologize for its political stance?

Did you know Progressive Auto Insurance heavily supports LGBT communities? Or how about IKEA

Now let me ask you, how come you do not see Conservatives threatening a boycott of these two companies? Am I actually suggesting that there might be some tolerance on the Right? Well, actually yes.

Here is an interesting quote I found online, and please tell me where this quote is not telling the truth:

If a Conservative doesn’t like guns, he doesn’t buy one.

If a Democrat doesn’t like guns, he wants all guns outlawed.

If a Conservative is a vegetarian, he doesn’t eat meat.

If a Democrat is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned for everyone.

If a Conservative is homosexual, he quietly leads his life.

If a Democrat is homosexual, he demands legislative respect.

If a Conservative is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation.

A Democrat wants the Government to take care of him.

If a Conservative doesn’t like a talk show host, he switches channels.

A Democrat demands that those they don’t like be shut down.

If a Conservative is a non-believer, he doesn’t go to church.

A Democrat non-believer wants any mention of God and religion silenced.

If a Conservative decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it.

A Democrat demands that the rest of us pay for his.

If a Conservative reads this, he’ll forward it so his friends can have a good laugh.

A Democrat will delete it because he’s “offended”.

Again, tell me where this is not true?

Of the companies attacked and threatened for “supporting traditional family values” Chic-fil-a, a Christian owned restaurant chain, stood by its ethos. Bravo. Some people get it; as a Chic-fil-a fan responded to the issue:

“This is the United States, so we should be able to practice our business the way we like.”

Unfortunately, in many things in todays society, being a Christian and Conservative is simply seen as “close minded, bigoted, blind, or backward.” Don’t believe me? Try playing the role of a Conservative in almost any University today, and you’ll be stymied or shut down by both the class and Professor! So much for facilitating engaging discussion, Professors now and days prefer to indoctrinate and perforate instead.

If bigotry were awarded a medal, its should be given to Liberals. Consider Proposition 8. Prop 8 was passed in California, to everyone’s surprise. What did Liberal opposers of the bill do? Protested and graffitied the Mormon Temple in Los Angeles and many other houses of worship in California. Trust me, if Prop 8 failed, you would not have saw similar from proponents for the measure.

As Christians, being Conservative is a double whammy. Most non-Christian Conservatives simply follow their class line or their parental party. Christians see a duty to their beliefs. So when words such as “Hate,” “intolerant” and “bigot” and the like are labeled upon us, it hurts. Many run away from the issue, others compromise.

But where does the line end? We can turn the other cheek and fade into oblivion, or we can make a stand as well.

How is it that the Left, and our politicians will go so far in protecting gays enough to give them protection under hate crimes, launch commercial campaigns to stop the use of “Gay” as synonymous with “Lame” and preach “Tolerance” yet expect us Christians to sit in silence (claiming no harm done) while we are mocked and labeled.

(Image above is a mockery of the Last Supper)

Was it just me or don’t you remember Christ turning over some tables in His time on earth? Oh, God forbid a Christian ever get angry or play on the offense rather than the defense. That would make him a hypocrite! Right? A Christian can’t play the offense…if so, I wonder what that would look like.

I also want you to notice the despicably low and offensive nature these people are willing to stoop to in order to make fun of Conservatives and or Christians. One of the most pathetic cases came against former Senator Rick Santorum. A Conservative Catholic, Rick was vehemently attacked by the left for his statements on homosexuality stating:

”whether it’s polygamy, whether it’s adultery, whether it’s sodomy, all of those things are antithetical to a healthy, stable, traditional family”; and that sodomy laws properly exist to prevent acts that “undermine the basic tenets of our society and the family”.

”Every society in the history of man has upheld the institution of marriage as a bond between a man and a woman. Why? Because society is based on one thing: that society is based on the future of the society. And that’s what? Children. Monogamous relationships. In every society, the definition of marriage has not ever to my knowledge included homosexuality. That’s not to pick on homosexuality. It’s not, you know, man on child, man on dog, or whatever the case may be. It is one thing. And when you destroy that you have a dramatic impact on the quality”

These statements were condemned by liberal commentators, Democratic politicians including 2004 Presidential candidates. From here lets refer to how Wikipedia put it:

In protest, syndicated columnist Dan Savage launched a contest among his readers in May 2003 to coin a new word “santorum” with an unflattering sexual definition, and followed this with a Google bombing campaign to spread the new term. Since 2004, Savage’s Google bomb has regularly been the top search result for Santorum’s surname, leading to what commentators have dubbed ”Santorum’s Google problem”. Santorum has characterized the campaign as the type of “vulgarity” that is common on the Internet.

Well what did this Dan Savage (pun intended) do? He effectively used the internet to develope a definition for Rick’s last name whereas you may find it upon googling “Santorum.” What is the definition, well…

Santorum 1. The frothy mix of lube and fecal matter that is sometimes the byproduct of anal sex. 2. Senator Rick Santorum.

Unbelievable.

Imagine if Rush Limbaugh had done this. It would be headlined everywhere!

This America… Conservative America… is what you get when you are not found in agreement with the  ever “Tolerant” Left.

True cowards full of hypocrisy. But again, what is to be expected of a group that turns its back on traditional values and morals.

I will end with this last example. This last example is the reason why I chose to write this. Yes, I wanted to explain a little bit on why I am conservative, but even more so, I wanted to show you why I am definitely not looking to the Left for help. If there was any chance of me looking to the Left to help this nation and stand up for my beliefs, these hopes are all but faded away.

Recently, Governor Rick Perry of Texas, a Christian Conservative has called on all 49 other Governors to Declare August 6th, as a State initiated National Day of Prayer and Fasting for the Nation and State. He himself will be heading the an Evangelical “Response” at Reliant Stadium in Houston.

Here are some videos sponsoring the event:

[The Response] & [Rick Perry’s Call to Governors’ Recognition]

As soon as these were noted, not only did a lawsuit go out against Rick Perry for violating Church and State separation (for leading an obviously Christian event) but the Left also began its mockery.

Here: Innocently labeled “Tool Time” (sarcasm) The Liberal news hosts not only calls Rick Perry a “tool” (synonymous with idiot) and unashamedly mocking a quote by Perry that says “there is hope for America… and we will find it on our knees,” the news host suggesting a sexual connotation here. Later calling if “false hope” and simply a “play on peoples emotions” or a chance to be in the national headlines.

Pathetic. Lets make sexual jokes when a man is truly seeking to make a difference in America through humility, whether you believe prayer works or not, that is something to be applauded.

But the Left wont play fair. They’ll mislabel the Conservative agenda seeking to appeal to emotions, and continue to mock Christians (both seen vividly in this LINK) as we turn the other cheek.

“I have heard, that Conflict is a lack of Tolerance. And Tolerance today is King.” - This Beautiful Republic

——————————————————————————————————-

CONCLUSION:

I am not saying that the Right is my only option because of the Left’s attitude and beliefs. No, I showed you clearly why I am Conservative. What I am expressing here and now is how the Left is continually pushing me away from their position.

I understand that there are psychos on every end of the scale. I can show you some on the Right for sure, but those on the Right are not trying to force me to agree with their views, however extreme they are. Those nuts on the Right are fine with believing what they believe and voting for what they vote for without pushing their agenda at you when it does not happen their way. I see the Right as fine with living in a state where others can do as they please, as long as they’re respected for doing as they themselves please. As for the Left, I see them as seeking to override all things in their favor.

A Conservative would be fine with abortion, if his money was not used (as taxes) to make it free.

But when a Conservative photographer is sued for refusing to shoot a gay couple (who go against his individual beliefs) then there are problems.

Must we give up our beliefs and what we stand for to please others? Never!

(***Check back here for a Critique on Christian-Conservatism & the Republican party soon! While I lean to the Right, I am not a puppet to the GOP.)

In the next few days I will have a lot to say about Homosexuality.

Wait what? Yeah - fire causing topic. If you read this blog’s (ABOUT) and [P]olitic’s section then you should know that I am not here to be a racist, a homophobe, and cause controversy. I am here to be dead-forward honest even if that means being against what is deemed the “politically correct” thing to say.

Anyway…

Recently it came out that Micheal Irvin, former NFL Dallas Cowboys great, who has an openly gay brother, would support any current athlete who came out of the closet.

Ok, cool. Theres nothing at all wrong with that. I do not condone anyone attacking or abusing said athletes if one were to come-out whilst still playing. So good for you Micheal, if thats what you wish to do.

But I have 3 issues with the “how”, “why” and the “reasoning” behind Mr. Irvin’s declaration.

  1. THE HOW: The Image

Why? Micheal Irvin is an NFL Athlete. In the NFL, im sure no one is going to question you macho-manhood. But what does this have to do with promoting “Sexuality Tolerance” in Pro Sports? To me this is only promoting homosexuality. Period. If thats what he wants to do (obviously its the magazines stance) then fine, but this doesn’t do it for me.

I suppose he/they were going for the “shock” factor to get you to read it. Hey, it works.

Yes yes, when someone sees it they will read it, wanting to know if Irvin is gay or not, but to me this image has nothing to do with what he wants to express. Why not take a picture in the magazine as yourself, in a suit (or something hetero) and stand-up for “closet” pro athletes as you are. To me that would be far more respectable.

This reminds me of something the French Women World Cup soccer teammates did; pose nude for attention. In fact, other teams (domestic or international, i really could care less) have resorted to this including (Germany, Spain and Brazil). In the words of Yahoo writer/contributor Derek Ciapala Their attempt to garner publicity and even raise some controversy does little to advance women’s soccer. “

I agree Derek, and I think the same can be said for Irvin. This does more for him personally than it does for his cause.

2. THE WHY: Compromising.

Micheal Irvin is said to be a Christian. (Pause: I am no saint, so read in full before you get upset with me). I am not going to scream “WHY IS MICHEAL SUPPORTING GAYS!” No, thats not what I am aiming for.

What bugs me here is the sense of compromise. Micheal Irvin took a harsh stance against homosexuality early on. His brother caused a change in his world view today. His brother came out a gay, definitely a tough pill to swallow. I have gay friends, whom I vehemently stuck up for. I sympathize with the crap teasing they had to put up with; but that doesn’t mean I am going to suddenly become one who supports homosexuality.

You see, for me, and for every true Christian, homosexuality and Christianity do not mix. Homosexuality is a sin and there is no way around that. We are all sinners or have sinned. We are born into it! As a Christian we are to repent from our sins and not return to it. If we fall, and we are bound to fall now and then, we simply must not return to it or look back. We are “A new creation.” As Christians we are responsible for warning others of their sin, but this doesn’t mean we are to force people out of it. We simply warn them, we pray for them as much as we can but we do not, nor can we, nor should we try and compel them to stop by any force. God never FORCES us either.

I know people who claim to be Christian and who have had close family members commit adultery on their spouse only for their family members to keep quiet and accept it. Not only do they accept it, they embrace the new coupling and toss aside the old one just as they did their old spouse. They do this without denouncing that individuals sin and accepting it as is. This disturbing action on their part, in my opinion leaves them partly responsible to the adultery because their lack of accountability. It also changes their outlook on such a sin; if no accountability is present, then well maybe adultery isn’t that bad after all.

Im sure Michael Irvin loves his brother; he should. In fact, it would be the Christian thing to do. I do not know whether he warned his brother of his sin, or not, as a Christian I am hoping he did. But it appears he has gone out of his way to promote homosexuality; a sin.

A sin is a sin. Would you promote lying? (Oh im sorry you are an active voter in politics, let me try another one) Would you promote… adultery? Stealing? Rape? A sin is a sin and all equally lead to death without Christ. Never should it be promoted. Compromise isn’t always good.

3. THE REASONING: Historical Past

As both a African-American Black and Mexican (mixed) American, I know a lot about the inequalities and injustices of racism of the past. Trust me. And just in case you think Im some privileged “uncle tom” as I have been labeled, I am from the “Projects.” I know whats up.

In the past, in some states, my “kind” couldn’t exist. Interracial marriage was deemed “illegal.” Just like Gay Marriage. Time and time again, I have been thrown this bone when confronted by pro-Gay apologists. As much as I explain the differences, it never gets through.

Racism, in its many forms isn’t equal to homophobia. I don’t condone either. Some actions taken on its behalf are very much the same, but this does not mean being anti-Gay marriage makes you someone who would have been anti-Civil rights.

Here is Irvin’s reasoning:

“I don’t see how any African-American with any inkling of history can say that you don’t have the right to live your life how you want to live your life. No one should be telling you who you should love, no one should be telling you who you should be spending the rest of your life with. When we start talking about equality and everybody being treated equally, I don’t want to know an African-American who will say everybody doesn’t deserve equality.”

This reasoning isn’t justification at all. It is merely an appeal to emotions. You were once persecuted too so stand by us! You know our pain. Yes, both are to some degree or another were and are persecuted, but they are not equal at all. Homosexuality is rejected because it is widely known as a sin (in the Judeo-Christian, Islamic and some Asian) world. It is also understood as unnatural. It is known to promote sexual diseases and destroys the family unit (the basic foundation of civil society); I can go on. They want all this to be accepted as natural, and right. The Civil Rights Cause was to accept human beings as human beings: equal. No matter what race.

Wait aren’t you contradicting yourself when you say human beings should be treated as equal, but gays still cannot marry? No. But stay tuned and I will answer this question soon enough.

To conclude, Irvings image does not promote gay rights (or gay athletes) it simply appeals to homosexual men and promotes homosexuality. His choice to compromise is very dangerous as a Christian and sends the wrong message. His reasoning for his new view used in news articles (and the magazine) are unwarranted and overplayed, though erroneously.
