A blog about things you avoid at the dinner table

The Right - Re-difined.

The biggest problem the RIGHT has is that they allow the LEFT to re-define them in a way that is negative… allowing for the often “emotion” appealing LEFT to Label, accuse and win the argument (emotionally) before dialogue begins.

Examples:

Pro-Traditional Marriage = Anti-gay rights / homophobia

Anti-Affirmitive Action = Anti-Black / Racist

Pro-Life / Anti-Abortion = Anti-Women / Anti-Choice

Pro-Gun = Pro-killing / Pro-murder

Anti- (excessive) Welfare = Anti-poor / Greedy

Pro-States Rights = Pro-Confederate / Pro-Bureaucracy

How does the Right counter? It spends time explaining itself in paragraphs whereas the left can sum us up in 1-Loaded word.

The Right needs to “come out” first. It needs to be able to sum up it’s positions quicker… without need of explanation. Should it push the “emotional” argument above the “reason” - no. Unfortunately though, this position is harming us because today’s society will not take the time to listen to an argument it traditionally and immediately finds opposing or offensive.

This is the first line in long list of challenges faced by the Right. What are some solutions?

Being democratic is not enough, a majority cannot turn what is wrong into right. In order to be considered truly free, countries must also have a deep love of liberty and an abiding respect for the rule of law.

Yep.

The bravest people in america, are not black conservatives, or gay conservatives, the bravest people in America are Gay Black Conservatives

The bravest people in America are gay black hispanic disabled female conservatives.

everytime i see this on my dash the comments get better and better.

LET’S JUST AGREE THAT MINORITY CONSERVATIVES AND CONSERVATIVES IN GENERAL ARE BRAVE K :P

^ Being openly conservative - no matter your race, gender, or sexuality - today requires some form of bravery because you better believe they have a nasty name, a generalization, an accusation, and a whole lot of ignorance ready for us.
Just a reminder that being female doesn’t make me a minority like some feminists seem to think. We’re 52% of the population; we’re not in the minority.

Yeah uh, black/mexican conservative here. I appreciate the aim of this post but… like a true conservative, I don’t play the race thing.Conservatism alone = bravery as you will be badgered and attack from your proclamation of said stance, through college and until the day you die. It’s a lot like being Christian actually :P

timey-ivy asked: What exactly is your political stance? It's rare to find current event blogs on tumblr! (I'd consider myself a Conservative Libertarian.)

Is that what I am ? :)

Hehe, I am pretty Conservative - Socially, and Moderately Conservative economically. I am not a Republican, but I lean to the Right (swaggers!)

:)
